Week 2, checked off the list.

Week 2 of Insanity is the same workouts as week 1, but in a different order, and the addition of the Cardio Abs DVD.  Cardio Abs is a quick, less than 20 minute workout that works every part of your abs and core without a single crunch.  The ab exercises are reminiscent of Pilates, with a lot of challenging position holds that use leg movement to target the lower ab region which is so hard to hit.  Verdict on the Cardio Ab DVD?  Loved it.

It’s smooth sailing so far, following program to a T, except for a small exception.  My shoulder injury is still nagging, and I’ve figured out through trial and error that push ups and planks are what kill it.  I think it’s the forward pressure of these moves, so I’m making a twice weekly trip to the gym to do isolated arm exercises like bicep curls, shoulder presses, tricep pulldowns, etc.  It helps with my motivation to finish the program, too, because I get to rendevous with weights, my one true love.

I said last week that this week’s post would be dedicated to going through each DVD individually, but to be honest, I can’t tell the DVDs apart.  The names of the DVDs are all frustratingly similiar (cardio recovery, cardio power and resistance, pure cardio, etc) so I can’t say ‘oh, that’s the DVD where you do this exercise…’ because a lot of the exercises are repeated, as well.  It’s not to the point where you feel like you are doing the same routine over and over again, it’s just too early to be able to tell them apart.  Give me a few more weeks, though, and I’m sure I’ll know all of them by heart.

Next week: Pros and cons of the program so far.
