It seems as though everyone is getting into the fitness industry nowadays. First we had Kirstie Alley as a Jenny Craig spokesperson, then Valerie Bertinelli with Weight Watchers.

Now we have Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino of Jersey Shore pushing his own pre-workout vitamins at GNC stores. The vitamin is called NoX Edge and gives young people everywhere the hope that by taking the supplement, they too can be ridiculously over-tanned and have overly-pronounced muscles.

Nox Edge’s website promises that the product “is a powerful enhancing Hemodilator that has been formulated to speed recovery and boost NitricOxide (NO) levels in the body assisting in increase in muscle size, strength, endurance, power output, load capacity and a perpetually pumped-up physique.” How much do you want to bet that The Situation had some help writing up that catchy description?

But why did The Situation jump on the fitness bandwagon? And how does he keep in shape? He told MTV, “I’m very strict.

Even after I land off the plane or something, I go to the gym. I’m not cheating on my diet when it’s close to action time.” Um…and what exactly does that mean, buddy?

But even The Situation gives in to temptation every once in a while: “When Season 2 ended [filming], I had a few weeks where I was able to relax and have chips.” I was expecting something much more binge-like, to be honest.

The good news is that you can get an inside look to Mike’s workout routine once his upcoming fitness DVD, The Jersey Core, is released. It’s described as an “intense total body workout.” What more could you want?

While I’m not entirely surprised by The Situation’s recent entrance to the fitness industry, I do have to wonder how long he will be able to stay in the spotlight. I mean, what has this world come to that we have begun to idolize people who look orange from tanning?
